Known to many within the cycling community as “Sabaweli”, Ongeziwe Tyapa has built his racing journey through resilience, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to growth. From Khayelitsha to some of the continent’s most demanding race environments, he continues to represent both his community and Tshenolo Pro Cycling Team with pride and determination.

Since stepping into competitive cycling in 2021, Ongeziwe has steadily developed into a versatile endurance rider with experience across both road and mountain biking disciplines. Guided by experienced mentors and shaped through demanding stage races and endurance events, he has earned a reputation as a dependable teammate willing to work relentlessly for the collective success of the squad.

His racing journey has included appearances at events such as the Absa Cape Epic, Wines2Whales, Tour du Bénin, and Tour du Cap, where he has continued to build valuable experience against high-level competition. Known for his calm approach, climbing resilience, and disciplined work ethic, Ongeziwe continues to grow as an athlete while contributing strongly to the culture and spirit of TPCT.

As part of the TPCT Men’s Team, he represents the next generation of riders committed not only to performance, but to perseverance, development, and long-term progression within African cycling.
